Where Crafting meets The Craft
Relaxing with Tarot Card Colouring In: Great for Switching Off
The Sun scaled

Adult colouring has been very popular in recent years as a way to practice mindfulness, help us relax and generally improve mental health. I used to do mindfulness colouring a few years ago, before I had discovered the art of crochet, and I was excited to get back into it.

Whilst on my lunch break at work, I had a little visit to the Works to see what wonderful crafting bits I could pick up. I discovered this awesome colouring book which is full of gorgeous tarot card designs, so I just had to get it. It was love at first sight of the cover. I love the intricate designs of different tarot decks, each one with its own style. This book has a very ‘tattoo-esque’ feel to it. While it still has a traditional feel to it, it is also quite a contemporary design.

What I also love about this colouring book is that it describes the meanings and symbolism for each card you are colouring. Very helpful if you are still familiarising yourself with tarot. These descriptions also give hints as to what colours to use for the design. Of course, you don’t have to follow this, but I found it really helped me to understand the colours used on the cards, and their meanings as well.

The book has illustrations of both the major and minor arcana. I especially love how badass the Queen of Swords looks here:

Let’s Get Colouring

I also made a video recording of my attempt at colouring in ‘The World’. You can watch a sped up version here. I have found previously that watching videos of people drawing and colouring in are quire relaxing themselves, so I added some chill music to the video as well!

In the video, I use different types of pens: Spectrum Noir, Litchitree and WH Smith brands. Spectrum Noir are the better pens, but are a bit pricier. The Litchitree pens I bought on Amazon as they included 40 different colours so I thought they would be good to help fill in for any colours I was missing. I was pleasantly suprised by how well they worked, and would recommend these as a nice starter kit that isn’t too expensive. The WH Smith pens are also pleasant to use, however I feel as though they are quite expensive. All of these products (and the colouring book itself) are linked below this video. They are all available on Amazon and, apart from the WH Smith, offer Prime delivery so you will be able to get them quickly.

Here is where you can get the materials I was using for my colouring. Please note that prices are correct at the time of writing (14th August 2021)

I really liked using all of these pens. I was probably more surprised at the Litchitree markers as they were quite cheap, but still did a good job. And there was also a great variety of colours included in a bag,

Thanks for Reading!
